We haven't verified Kenai's tree ordinance yet
Tree rules are set city by city and they vary a lot — the same tree can be freely removable in one town and protected a mile away. We only publish local permit details once we've read them in the city's own ordinance or on its official site, and we haven't done that for Kenai yet. Rather than fill this page with generic filler dressed up as local advice, here is how to get a real answer in about ten minutes.
How to find the rule for your tree
- 1
Search for "Kenai AK municipal code tree removal"
Look for a .gov result or the city's hosted code library. Skip the tree-service blogs — they are often wrong or out of date.
- 2
Call the planning, forestry, or urban forestry department
Ask two things: is there a diameter threshold, and is my species on a protected list. That is usually the whole answer.
- 3
Check whether the tree is in the right-of-way
Trees between the sidewalk and the street are almost always the city's, not yours, wherever you live.
- 4
Ask your tree service to confirm before they quote
A licensed local arborist pulls these permits routinely and will know the local threshold.
- 5
Check your HOA covenants separately
HOA tree restrictions are a private contract and apply on top of any city rule.
