Permit Lookup Widget

A free 50-state building-permit finder you can drop into any blog, title-company site, or real estate page. One iframe tag, mobile responsive, no tracking, no signup.

One iframe tag

Copy, paste, done. No script, no package, no framework lock-in. Works in WordPress, Ghost, Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify, or raw HTML.

Mobile responsive

The widget scales from 320px to 600px wide and renders cleanly on any host background, light or dark.

Covers all 50 states

Readers pick their state and get the official permit portal link plus the local building-code rule set.

No tracking, no cookies, no ads

The embed sets zero cookies, runs zero analytics, and never shows ads. Your readers stay on your page.

Live preview

This is exactly what your readers will see. Try picking a state.

Who this widget is for

Any audience that hits the "which permit office do I call?" question.

Real estate agents & brokerages

Add the widget to buyer-education posts, renovation-ready listing pages, or "moving to X" state guides so buyers can find the right permit office in one click.

Title companies & escrow offices

Drop it on your "unpermitted work" or "closing checklist" resource pages. Buyers and agents hit the same dead-end question constantly and you can send them straight to the right portal.

Home improvement & DIY blogs

Pair the widget with any permit-related post so readers stop leaving your page to google their city permit office.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?+

Yes, free forever. No signup, no API key, no rate limits, no credit card. We maintain the widget as a free resource.

Can I customize the colors or font?+

Not right now. The widget ships with a neutral design that reads well on both light and dark host pages. If a white-label or themed version would help you, email support@permitdeck.com and we will add it if there is enough demand.

Does it track my readers?+

No. The embed sets no cookies, loads no analytics scripts, and sends no data beyond the standard HTTP request required to load the iframe. Your privacy policy stays as-is.

Can I self-host it?+

No. The widget must be served from permitdeck.com via the iframe so we can keep the permit portal URLs current across all 50 states. Self-hosting would mean stale data within weeks.

Is attribution required?+

Not required, but appreciated. The widget already carries a small "Powered by permitdeck.com" line in the footer. If you want to add a separate backlink in your post, that helps us keep the tool free.

What if PermitDeck goes down?+

If permitdeck.com is unavailable, the iframe shows a blank area until we recover. We run on Vercel with 99.99% uptime, so this is very rare.
